(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioners and husband and wife Zheng Xujun and Su Nan from Beijing are being detained at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Liaoning Province. Zheng Xujun is forced to take on heavy work in the men's camp. The couple was illegally arrested on February 26, 2008 at their home in Changping, Beijing. Zheng Xujun was sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor, and Su Nan was sentenced to two years. Because Su Nan refused to sign the monthly report, she was beaten on October 8 and October 27. Zhao Guorong (team leader of the 1st Division), Zhang Liang (a section chief), Gao, and team leader Zhao beat her on October 8, 2008. They electrically shocked her hands and throat. Zhao Guorong and team leader Xiao Li beat her with hard plastic sticks on October 27, 2008. They pushed her down to the floor and kicked her, causing her to bleed from the mouth.
Mr. Zheng Xujun started his PhD program in 1996 and was sent to a joint research program at the University of Liverpool in England in January 1999. After he returned from England, he was compelled to stop his PhD studies and was forcibly brainwashed. In March and November 2000 he was arrested for mailing and putting up truth-clarification materials. CEPRI then dismissed him from university. People from CEPRI then changed his address to a non-existent one and kept his registration in the security department of CEPRI, turning him into an "illegal resident." Mr. Zheng has thus been deprived of the most basic citizen's rights.
At the end of 2001, he was sent to the "Beijing Legal System Training Center," a brainwashing facility, where he suffered abuse for more than six months. He was locked in a tightly sealed room. Fluorescent lamps lit the room twenty-four hours a day, and armed police officers took turns monitoring him around the clock. Later on he was sent to a forced labor camp for a year and a half, in addition to the six months at the brainwashing center. Mr. Zheng Xujun was detained for a total of over two years.
Zheng's wife Su Nan worked for the People's Liberation Army's General Armament Department. Her department segregated her in confinement for five months in July 1999 because she appealed for Falun Gong. Her CCP membership and military status were canceled in 2000 for her belief.
In September 2000, she and two other practitioners went to appeal in Beijing. Two residents at Mafang Village, Qinghe, Beijing reported them, which led to their arrest. They were detained at the Haidian Detention Center, and they were later transferred to the 7th Division of the Beijing Police Department and then sent back to the Haidian Detention Center. The Haidian District Court sentenced her to three years in prison. Su Nan went on a hunger strike for 27 days at Haidian Detention Center to demand her release. During that time she was forced to stand outside in the wind and snow for a whole day after being on hunger strike for over ten days. The same night she almost died. Since then her hands become pale whenever it is cold, and her bones ache. She has not had her menstrual cycle since then and has become physically very weak.
Su Nan was later severely abused and tortured at the Sichuan Women's Prison and then at Chuanxi Women's Prison in Sichuan.
In a meeting at the Chuanxi Women's Prison, political commissioner Zhang and prison ward head Wang publicly claimed, "Falun Gong is nothing. A practitioner dying is like a dog dying. Spending 50 yuan to take you out to be cremated can be counted as you committing suicide."
They instigated the inmates to shout slanderous slogans. When more than ten practitioners shouted, "Falun Dafa is good," they were sent to solitary confinement cells and tortured there. Su Nan was sent to a solitary cell and was "tied with ropes." This torture involves the following: the ropes are soaked first and then the practitioner is tied up from the wrists all the way to the shoulders then to the back and the neck. The arms would soon lose circulation, as the ropes dried out and tightened. After half an hour to an hour the person might lose consciousness. It might cause death after two hours. Prison warden Wang had killed a male prisoner using this torture method. As soon as the practitioners become unconscious, guards loosen the ropes. When practitioners awaken again, they get tied up again.
Su Nan was handcuffed and locked to a window higher than her neck. She was only loosened three times - when using the restroom and ten minutes each time when it was time to eat. She was cuffed for 24 hours a day. When she was on hunger strike, she was only let go when they force-fed her and when using the restroom once at night. She was forced to stand day and night there. After 11 days, her hands were cuffed at her back to the window. She had to bend forward and could not stand up straight. She was extremely weak on the 15th day, and her whole body was swollen. She often lost consciousness, but the guards still did not call the doctor.
Once when Su Nan had one hand tied to the window, she nearly died. The inmates called the prison doctor, and she was sent to the emergency room at the Yaan District Hospital.
The perpetrators at the Chuanxi Prison forced the practitioners who refused to give up the Falun Gong practice to run on the playground. When the inmates were tired they took turns to rest, but practitioners had to keep running. When they could not run anymore, they were beaten and kicked, so they had to keep running until they collapsed. Some were sent to the emergency room. One older practitioner was tortured to death after only one month of incarceration there.
Su Nan has returned home but has been very weak physically. She cannot raise her arms. Even so, the authorities sentenced her to two years of forced labor.
Because CEPRI had canceled Mr. Zheng's registered address, he could not lead a normal life. The CEPRI authorities refused to let Zheng Xujun have his doctoral dissertation passed, so he is unable to obtain his PhD.
On March 20, 2008, domestic security agents from Changping and agents from the Xisanqi Police Station broke into the couple's home and ransacked it. They sent the couple to the Changping Brainwashing Center for a month. Persecutors there (including section chief Lian, Dong, collaborator Gao Ruihua and Dong Fu) abused many practitioners. They forced practitioners to watch slanderous videos. If practitioners remain persistent in their belief, they are sentenced or subjected to forced labor.
On April 19, 2008, the couple was transferred from the Changping Brainwashing Center to the Changping Detention Center. On May 19, 2008, the couple was sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor. In June 2008, they were sent to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp and have been persecuted there. Su Nan's relatives tried to visit her, but the guards denied their request. Su Nan is being forced to work at the camp's shop under abysmal hygienic conditions, laboring from 6:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. She is often beaten while working.

Three of Mr. Tian Fujin's Family Again Sentenced to Prison
(Clearwisdom.net) Six members of Mr. Tian Fujin's family are Falun Gong practitioners. During the nine years that Falun Dafa has been persecuted, all six have been sentenced to imprisonment or forced labor. Mr. Tian's home was also searched several times and most of his property was stolen by the local police. The family has been unable to reunite for nine years. The total sum of their detention terms is 30 years.
On June 5, 2008, agents from the Horqin District 610 Office and police officers from the Yongqing Police Station searched Mr. Tian's home once more and confiscated his property. People involved in the search included Baojirimutu, Li Fengqin, director of Yongqing residents' committee, and police officers from the Yongqing Police Station. Mr. Tian Fujin, Ms. Liu Xiurong, Ms. Tian Fang, and Mr. Tian Shuangjiang , who is Mr. Tian Fujin's son, were arrested and detained. Only a 12-year-old child was left at home. Mr. Tian Shuangjiang was released the next day. But his parents and sister were detained at the Hexi Detention Center and subjected to abuse.
During the Olympic Games, Ms. Liu Xiurong was transferred to the Ganqika Town Detention Center, where she developed heart disease from being abused. The authorities of the detention center asked her family members to pay money so that Ms. Liu could receive a check-up. Ms. Tian Xin, the second daughter of Ms. Liu, went to visit her mother after she was released from the labor camp. Ms. Tian Xin did not have any money, so the guards lied and said that Ms. Liu had recovered and it was no longer necessary to do a check-up. Ms. Tian Xin asked to see her mother, but was refused. Meanwhile Ms. Tian Fang was transferred to the Naiman Prefecture Detention Center. Wang Bo, director of the State Security Division in Horqin District, continually harassed Mr. Tian Shuangjiang and demanded that Mr. Tian go to the police department frequently. Also, Wang Bo went to his home to harass him. As a result, Mr. Tian Shuangjiang was forced to become homeless and has been unable to return. Because of cooling temperatures, Ms. Tian Xin took cotton-padded clothes to the detention center for her parents and sister. However, the guards in the detention center refused to accept the clothes and tried to force her to buy the costly clothes sold in the detention center.
On November 3, 2008, the Horqin District Court tried three members of Mr. Tian Fujin's family. They were charged with attempting to overthrow the state and violating the law. They were suffering from severe abuse. As a result, Mr. Tian Fujin was in a somewhat muddled state; Ms. Liu Xiurong's voice was hoarse, and Ms. Tian Fang and her parents were extremely emaciated. At first, the judge questioned the three individually. He asked Mr. Tian Fujin if Ms. Tian Fang had been involved in making Falun Gong materials. Mr. Tian Fujin said no. Then he asked Ms. Tian Fang the same question, and Ms. Tian Fang said no. Later, the judge brought the family together, and asked Ms. Tian Fang the same question again. Ms. Tian Fang responded with no. But the judge had deceived her by saying that Mr. Tian Fujin had already acknowledged this to be true. At that time, Mr. Tian Fujun was too weak to defend himself. Ms. Liu spoke with kindness and said that the material was for saving people and providing them with a good future. The judge ignored her and proceeded to convict them. The so-called "evidence" for convicting Ms. Tian Fang was that she had distributed articles written by the founder of Falun Gong in the detention center. Ms. Tian Fang was released from the Huhehaote City Women's Prison in September 2007, and because she had committed "crimes" within five years of her release, the substantiating "evidence" fell into the category of a repeat offender, whereby, she was given a severe penalty.
On December 10, 2008, the Horqin District Court in Tongliao City, Inner Mongolian, sentenced Mr. Tian Fujin to three years of imprisonment, Ms. Liu Xiurong, Mr. Tian Fujin's wife, four years of imprisonment, and Ms. Tian Fang five years of imprisonment.

Crimes Committed against Practitioners in the Shandong Province First Women's Labor Camp
(Clearwisdom.net) The Shandong Province First Women's Labor Camp is located at 2 Xiangshuiquan Road in Jinan City, Shandong Province. All the practitioners detained here were first forced to go through a medical examination at the Police Hospital. Then each practitioner had to have a blood test, but the test results were unavailable to us practitioners.
All the newcomers were handcuffed and gagged with duct tape and taken to a special team designed just for practitioners. The guards assigned two inmate "helpers," former practitioners, to monitor the newcomer practitioners. As these helpers talked to practitioners, the guards tried to determine which helpers the practitioners wanted to talk with. Their goal was to find ways to get practitioners to give up their belief. At the beginning of each practitioner's term, the guards repeatedly called her family, telling them to come visit her. The guards often threatened the families, telling them to persuade the practitioner to give up her belief by using the threat of divorce or ending family relationships.
When we went on a hunger strike to protest the mistreatment, the guards held us down and force-fed us by inserting a tube into our nostrils. Many of us bled profusely. The guards were afraid we would reveal this brutal treatment to our visiting families, so they later completely banned all visits.
The guards have developed a host of tactics and methods of torture to persecute detained practitioners. Below are some major ones.
Putting Practitioners in Small Cells and Brainwashing Them
Many practitioners were held in a small cell alone since the first day they arrived--for three months in a row or even longer. One practitioner was held alone for three months. Because she had no chance to talk to anyone, she lost the ability to speak normally when she was finally let out of the small cell.
While in the small cell, we were forbidden to see anyone except the guards and the helpers. The door was always closed, and we had to eat, drink, relieve ourselves, and sleep all in the small cell. We had no dignity, and the guards physically abused us at will. Sun Qunli was a guard who often beat and cursed practitioners. The verbal abuse was extreme, aiming to have us feel we were the most incapable, stupid, and disgusting person in the whole world. The guards also tried to instill the idea that only they were the dearest people in our lives. Guard Sun Jun said, "Why are you afraid of being "reformed?" In our team, the reform rate is 100 percent. I'd say it's just a matter of time before you give up your belief."
The guards played videos slandering Falun Gong and Master all day long, from 6:00 a.m. till midnight, sometimes for over a month. They wrote Master's name on the floor and benches and then forced us to step on them. They also marked our shoes, arms, and legs with Master's name.
We refused to acknowledge we were detainees, so we were then denied restroom privileges and not allowed to sleep or wash ourselves. We had to urinate into our teacup. We also refused to have our hair cut or put on detainees' uniforms, so seven to eight guards held us down one at a time to cut our hair and strip off our clothes. All the items that our families sent us were taken away. Only the clothes were left to us.
Forcing Practitioners to Squat for Long Periods of Time
We had to squat for over 10 hours at a time or even longer. Two helpers watched each practitioner, making sure we did not move. Their plot was to wait for our vulnerable moments to force us to write statements to denounce our belief. If we urgently needed to use the restroom, we would be told to write the statements first. When we refused to comply they would all over swarm us, put a pen in our hands, and have us write. Then they forced our fingerprints on the statements, saying, "Now that you have written such statements, your Master no longer wants you." We certainly would not acknowledge such "reform," but that was exactly how they achieved their 100 percent "reform" rate.
After such torture, we usually could not walk for over a week.
Forcing Practitioners to Sit on Plastic Benches
The plastic benches used in this torture were only about 12 cm tall, with many holes on them. We were ordered to sit on these benches with our backs upright, hands on our laps, and eyes forward. We were not allowed to talk to each other or to stand up and walk around. Every day from four o'clock in the morning to midnight we had to sit there, motionless. Sometimes we were forced to endure such torture for several months in a row. Two helpers were assigned to keep an eye on each of us. If they thought our seated posture was not good enough, they would kick us. In the summertime, the benches were very damp. Our flesh got stuck in the holes on the benches and soon festered. It was very common for us to have a couple of pot marks on our bottoms. When we went to use the restroom, we had to be careful when taking off our pants because the rotten flesh, pus, and blood all stuck to the pants.
Denying Practitioners Washing Privileges
This was a despicable tactic. The guards often intensified the torment by using this method on us on very cold or hot days. In the hottest days in the summer we were forbidden to change our clothes or wash ourselves. The guards ordered the helpers to wrap the only faucet in the restroom with plastic bags. We were even prevented from seeing to our personal hygiene during our menses. We all had heat rash.
Depriving Practitioners of Sleep
Sometimes we were forbidden to sleep for five days in a row, or even longer. We could not even blink our eyes or we would invite beatings from the helpers. In order to keep us awake, these helpers poured cold water on us. They also stabbed us with their ink pens. Many of us had bruises everywhere.
In addition to the physical sufferings, such long-time sleep deprivation resulted in mental problems for some of us. Yet the guards blamed Falun Gong for this outcome.
Subjecting Practitioners to Forced Labor
Every day we got up at 5:00 a.m. and labored until 11:00 or 12:00 at night. Each meal took no more than 30 minutes, and the rest of the time we were all working. Later on, the Minghui website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom) exposed this abuse at the labor camp, and the camp's supervising agency gave orders that we be let off work at 8:00 p.m. Actually, we were still made to work well beyond that time. The guards' trick was to have us work in our cells after 8:00 p.m. We couldn't go to sleep until 11 or 12; sometimes even 1 o'clock in the morning. Later on the supervising agency became more rigorous in its camp inspections, and the guards were forced to order everyone to lie down at 10:00 p.m. every night.
The workshop was a dangerous place. The fuzz from the plush toys was everywhere. Even though we wore surgical masks, our mouths, nostrils, and bodies were still full of the fuzz. Many of us developed a cough and skin diseases. In addition, the mask given to us was never replaced. So, no matter how long our term was, we had to wear the same mask over and over again.
Every day we had four restroom breaks: at 5 and 9 in the morning, 3 and 8 in the afternoon.
Everyone was given three jobs to finish each day. However, when we were done with our assignments, the guards increased our workload to five jobs. When we were able to do five jobs every day, the guards dumped more work on us. The workload kept increasing until we reached our capacity and were totally exhausted. At the end of every day we were all tired beyond words, yet we still had to sit upright and hold daily meetings.
We were given two washing breaks every day, one in the morning and the other at night. Every team (consisting of at least 12 people) got a total of only five minutes. No matter what we did, be it washing our face, brushing our teeth or washing our clothes, we had to be out in five minutes as a team. If we failed to finish our things on time, we would be scolded at different meetings. According to the actual camp rules, every team is to be given 10 minutes every week for thorough personal hygiene and cleaning the cells. However, we often didn't get such breaks in several months. Oddly enough, whenever the supervising agency sent people to inspect the labor camp, they would for sure see newly painted walls, well-maintained machines, newly replaced linens, and spotless rooms.
There was a surveillance camera in every corner, hall, workshop, and detention cell. The guards could see clearly what was going on anywhere inside the labor camp.
In one strictly monitored team headed by Yang Xiaolin, there were 12 detainees, three of whom were practitioners and the rest criminals charged with prostitution, drug dealing, and battery. The three practitioners were made to wear blue badges while non-practitioner detainees wore yellow badges. The practitioners were forbidden to talk to anyone and were under round-the-clock watch by the guards and non-practitioner detainees. The guards often incited those non-practitioner detainees to verbally and physically abuse practitioners, promising to reduce the terms of those that cooperated the more they cooperated with the guards.
The guards often softened their attitudes toward practitioners whose terms were about to expire, because they feared the released practitioners would expose their crimes. They would reiterate that all the torture the practitioners suffered was initiated by the helpers and that all they did was shower practitioners with tender care and love.

They would reiterate that all the torture the practitioners suffered was initiated by the helpers and that all they did was shower practitioners with tender care and love.

Mr. Jin Lilin Serving Seven-Year Sentence--Wife Passed Away after Struggling Alone for Years
(Clearwisdom.net) On the morning of December 22, 2008, the wife of Mr. Jin Jilin, a resident of Jinjiaya Village, Yuzhong County, Lanzhou City in Gansu Province, passed away after struggling alone for years, trying to raise their family. The children were severely traumatized by their mother's death, and with the grandmother lying sick in bed, the children have no one to turn to. Those who know the family's situation are moved to tears.
In September 2000, police officers from Yuzhong County ransacked Mr. Jin's home and arrested him. He was later sentenced to one year of forced labor. In May 2002, he was arrested and detained by police officials from Lanzhou City and sentenced to ten years in prison. He was often transferred from one prison to another and tortured wherever he went. Even his father was forced to leave home to avoid being arrested.
While Mr. Jin was imprisoned, his wife had to struggle to pay for their two children's schooling. Since she worked so hard for so many years, she became so exhausted that she got ill. In late November 2008, Mr. Jin's wife fainted after experiencing chest pains.
When she went to the local hospital for a physical examination, she was diagnosed with "advanced gastric cancer with lymph node metastasis." Because she couldn't afford proper medical treatment, she opted for a less expensive treatment.
When Mr. Jin's wife became seriously ill, the family asked the prison authorities to release Mr. Jin. On December 2, 2008, guards from the Lanzhou City Prison went to Mr. Jin's home to do a "home visit." While they were there, they took footage of his home and his family. They brought the video back to the prison and showed it to Mr. Jin, saying, "As long as you write a guarantee statement, we will release you immediately." The guards blatantly attempted to use the family tragedy to pressure Mr. Jin into giving up practicing Falun Gong.
After Mr. Jin's wife died, their son, along with several village residents, went to the Lanzhou City Prison and begged the guards to release Mr. Jin so he could make funeral arrangements for his wife.
Zhang Haijun, instructor of the District No. 9 Section of Lanzhou Prison, said that since Mr. Jin didn't stop practicing Falun Gong, he was in the wrong. Zhang also denied the son's request to see his father, claiming that Mr. Jin had to be watched very closely in order to prevent an "accident."
In early November 2003, Mr. Jin was tortured in the West Orchards Detention Center and then taken to Dashaping Prison in a police car. As Mr. Jin was getting out of the car, he shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!"
The guards dragged Mr. Jin into the prison, then handcuffed and shackled him in a cell full of practitioners for seven days. Other practitioners were also handcuffed and shackled, and a metal cable connected each person to the next. They guards did not let them use chopsticks to eat and forced them to sleep on a cold concrete floor without any blankets.
When the guards saw that Mr. Jin would not give up his faith in Dafa--even after being severely tortured--they transferred him to Dingxi Prison in early March 2004. While he was there, Mr. Jin again shouted "Falun Dafa is good!" and clarified the truth. When the guards heard him shouting, they immediately shocked and beat him with electric batons. After torturing him like this for quite some time, Mr. Jin was covered in blood and bruises. He was later confined for 50 days to a small cell, where he was closely monitored.
In December 2005, Mr. Jin was transferred to the Lanzhou City Prison. From September 2007 to November 2008, the guards allowed no visits from Mr. Jin's family.

Mr. Liu Yizhi and Ms. Bai Hongzhen in Prison Since October
(Clearwisdom.net) On the morning of August 6, 2008, practitioners Mr. Liu Yizhi and Ms. Bai Hongzhen were illegally tried in the Xunyang District Court in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials. When their family members arrived at the court hearing, they were searched. The trial lasted less than an hour, and the families heard no news of a verdict until November 1. Mr. Liu phoned home to inform his family that he had been secretly sentenced to two years in prison. Ms. Bai was sentenced to five years. On October 21, they were transferred to Hongdu Prison in Xinjian County.
After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, Mr. Liu Yizhi and Ms. Bai Hongzhen were arrested. Ms. Bai was tortured in a mental institution. At around 9:00 p.m. on the April 28, 2008, Li Ming, head of the National Security Team from Xunyang Police Station in Jiujiang City, went to Bai Hongzhen's home accompanied by Kong Jiang. Four police officers beat Ms. Bai to the ground with a thick rope. They arrested her and tied her legs and arms together. They also arrested Mr. Liu, who was visiting Ms. Bai at that time. Wang Yonggen, the head security officer of the No. 2 Construction Company, and Ma Daorong were involved in these abusive arrests.
Liu Yizhi's mother is over 80 years old, and his son was planning to study at the university. They are both in need of financial support. Mr. Liu was arrested again on April 28, 2008. His family now must rely on his wife's small business as their sole source of income.
Ms. Huang Jinrong, 46, is from Dawangmiao Village, Jinjipo, Xunyang District of Jiujiang City. She has been sentenced to two years of forced labor. Since beginning Falun Gong practice, she has become healthier both mentally and physically. However, Ms. Huang has been arrested several times and sent to forced labor camps just because she wants to be a good person through studying Dafa. Back in August 2001, she was sentenced to forced labor. Her mother-in-law went to the police station to request her release. She was bitten by a dog and fell, fracturing a bone in one of her hands. Ms. Huang's mother was extremely worried about her daughter and soon became ill. She passed away not long afterwards. When Ms. Huang was detained in Majialong Forced Labor Camp, she was forced to take unknown drugs and suffered a mental collapse. After she returned home, it took a long time for her to regain her health.

New Chief of Changlingzi Forced Labor Camp Applied Pressure to Intensify the Persecution
(Clearwidsom.net) Changlingzi Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City is one of the principal camps where the Chinese Communist Party persecutes Falun Gong practitioners. For a long time practitioners have been subjected to inhumane tortures in this camp. Particularly when the new warden, Zheng Yunfeng, arrived, he used "restructuring" as an excuse to apply pressure to all the guards to make them intensify the persecution of Dafa practitioners.
When the new warden arrived, the forced labor hours were extended, and inmates must now work from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Those that refuse to work or are unable to finish their quotas are labeled "not-reformed" and their jail terms are extended. Practitioners are prohibited from talking arbitrarily or moving about, and they are only allowed to use the restroom at designated times. Missing a time means they cannot use the restroom and have to to urinate into a bottle. The camp lets other inmates manage the practitioners, who are constantly reprimanded.
The food is very poor and the camp is involved in dishonest, deceptive practices. The menu states that there are two dishes for each meal, when in reality there is only soup. Inmates are instructed to lie when people come to do an inspection, saying that the food is great and that they get to take a shower once a week.
Ten practitioners are currently being persecuted in the camp. They are: Sun Kaiqing, Li Lizhuang, Zhang Yu, and Hao Mingwei of Harbin City; Liu Fang of Wuchang City; Jiang Zhi of Bayan County; Yu Lianhe of Fangzheng County; Wang Lihui in Shuangcheng City; Guo Hiacheng of Bin County; and Chang Guofu from Zhaoyuan County.
On the morning of December 18, 2008, guard Sun Minggang pinched practitioner Yu Lianhe's ear and kicked his thigh while he was doing the exercises. To generate hatred against Dafa and practitioners, the guards got all the inmates who monitored practitioners to sit with the practitioner who did the exercises and woke up all the other inmates. The practitioners went on a group hunger strike to protest, which caused the guards to intensify their persecution. On the morning of December 20, 2008, Division IV captain Hao Wei ordered practitioners into the field to shovel snow. The practitioners didn't have warm enough clothes and refused to cooperate. Hao ordered the guards and the inmates to tie Mr. Yu Lianhe and Mr. Liu Fa to benches and tape their mouths shut, then forced the rest of the practitioners to go to the field. After he finished shoveling snow, Mr. Yu and the guard got into a dispute. The guard pulled him aside and got another guard, Xu Yanpo, to beat and verbally abuse him. Mr. Yu's face was swollen. Afterwards, Mr. Yu and Mr. Sun were dragged to Division I to be put in solitary confinement. Mr. Li Lizhuang went to talk with the guards and was also put in solitary confinement.
Shuangcheng City practitioner Mr. Dong Liantai was also tortured. He was made to sit on a steel chair and be force-fed. The food ended up in his lungs. The guards had to immediately release him on medical leave lest he die in the camp. Only eight days after his release, Mr. Dong died in extreme pain from damage to his abdomen and a high fever.
In October 2008, the forced labor camp officials destroyed all records of the persecution of practitioners to remove evidence of the atrocities committed in the camp.

Guards in Wangcun Labor Camp Cruelly Tortured Me
(Clearwisdom.net) I was lucky to learn Falun Dafa in August 1997. The principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance rectified my deviant path of life. I have come to know many Falun Dafa practitioners ever since, and I can see the wonderfulness of Falun Dafa through them.
On July 20, 1999, Jiang's regime initiated a persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. As a benefited practitioner, I am responsible for clarifying the truth. Facing unreasonable suppression, I went to appeal many times, but I was beaten, arrested, detained, placed under house arrest, and finally, sentenced to forced labor in July 2000. Later, I was transferred from the Weifang City Labor Camp to the Wangcun (Shandong Province) Labor Camp.
In order to try to force me to give up cultivating Falun Dafa, the guards used all sorts of torture means. They handcuffed me as soon as I entered the camp, and I remained cuffed 24 hours per day for 141 days, until December 2000. I was detained in a 40-square-foot cell with a coffin-shaped bed. I was cuffed onto the metal gate and forced to stand holding the gate for 79 days. They did not allow me to sleep for the first ten days. If I closed my eyes, the guards would punch me, beat me, or curse me. By the tenth day, I could not bear such inhuman torture and protested. I requested that they let me sleep during the night. Just because I dared to raise such a basic request, the guards in the tenth ward took me to a room where more than a dozen guards surrounded me, each holding an electric baton, and shocked me for the whole morning. That was the darkest morning of my life. The scars resulting from the shocks took two years to fade. I was tortured to the degree of unconsciousness. Then they let me sleep for several hours per night, but they still handcuffed me to the bed.
The room in which the guards shocked me is one floor directly below my cell. I could almost hear the noise of the electric baton shocks every day, practitioners' screaming, and guards cursing. The air was filled with the smell of burnt flesh. Guards constantly maliciously laughed. They were devoid of kindness, and they had forgotten that the people paid them, they are among the people, and they should serve the people, and therefore they should not torture kind Falun Dafa practitioners who follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Mr. Hua Yuliang (an employee of the Weifang City Construction Bank), Mr. Zhang Zhao (an employee of the Weifang Diesel Engine Factory), Mr. Li Xinjian (an employee of the Weifang City Senior Citizen Center), and many other practitioners have also endured the same cruel torture that I did. Twenty-eight-year-old Mr. Zou Sontao, an educated man with a Master's degree from the Qingdao City Oceanography University, was tortured to death there on November 3, 2000.
The torture I went through in the forced labor camp is almost too painful to think about. I did not expect to walk out of there alive. My parents cried every day. My family was not allowed to visit me because I refused to accept the brainwashing. They tried with all their might to find out if I was still alive in the camp, and they were severely mentally traumatized. Upon being released from the forced labor camp, my wife cried and told me, "While you were serving in the camp, we were under the same pressure outside the camp. Do you know how hard it was for us to survive these miserable years? It was too much suffering!"

Cruel Torture in Wangcun Forced Labor Camp: Brainwashing with "Stew the Eagle" and Electric Shocking in Water Dungeon
(Clearwisdom.net) The Wangcun Forced Labor Camp, also called the Shandong Province Second Forced Labor Camp, is located in Wangcun Town, Zhoucun District in Zibo City, Shandong Province. It is the biggest forced labor camp in Shandong Province, and there are around 2,000 Falun Dafa practitioners detained there.
Since July 2000, a large number of practitioners have been sentenced to forced labor in Shandong Province, and they have been served the most severe terms in the nation. Normally, forced labor terms are 1-3 years long, but 900f detained Falun Dafa practitioners in Shandong Province have been sentenced to three years of forced labor.
The Shandong Province's evil party officials have conducted a brainwashing "research" project, beginning in July 2000, in Wangcun Labor Camp. First, they used physical torture and forced brainwashing by showing slanderous videos. The "strict control cell" chief guard Xu Shouyi revealed that many practitioners would be dragged out of the "strict control cell," then dragged back, causing much of their skin to tear, and their body would be covered with electric baton shock marks or wounds from beating. The "strict control cell" was very crowded, and practitioners slept with their handcuffs on and could not turn.
Mr. Hua Yuliang from Weifang City spoke with the guards rationally, and the guards could not say anything, but they still applied an electric baton into his mouth and burnt his mouth until it was covered in blisters and he could not drink or eat. Finally, the guards used a very cruel method and had ten collaborators take turns talking to him with their deviated understandings 24 hours per day; they did not let Mr. Hua sleep at all.
All firm Falun Dafa practitioners detained in Shandong Province have been transferred to the Wangcun Labor Camp to be brainwashed. In September 2000, more than thirty practitioners were transferred from the Licun Labor Camp in Qingdao City to the Wangcun Labor Camp. Among them, Mr. Zou Songtao, an educated man with a Master's degree from the Oceanography University in Qingdao City, was tortured to death with a dozen high voltage electric batons shocking him (see http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2002/7/26/24522.html). Mr. Jiang Mingzhai is still being tortured in the Wangcun Labor Camp. There were also 18 practitioners transferred to the Wangcun Labor Camp from the Jinan City Labor Camp. In order to force them to give up their faith, guards locked them in a water dungeon (1) around the clock and ran a low electricity current in the water to shock them.
In the beginning of 2001, the guards changed their torture means and deprived practitioners their right to sleep unless they accepted the brainwashing. Guards in Shandong Province labor camps were widely using such methods. They had collaborators take turns brainwashing steadfast practitioners with their deviated understandings at all times. They call the method "Stew the Eagles" (2).Under such cruel brainwashing, some practitioners could not bear the sleepiness, turned away from Falun Dafa, became collaborators, and in turn, started brainwashing other firm practitioners.
Those practitioners that still did not accept the brainwashing after enduring the torture would be beaten by guards. Those forced to accept the brainwashing would go through "Legal Education," followed by overtime heavy labor. From 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every night, they still had to watch CCTV news and "Focus Forum," writing their "understandings" every day. There is also a weekly "Criticizing (Falun Gong) meeting." Guards believe that "Stew the eagles" plus slave labor, repeatedly viewing brainwashing materials, and brutal beatings will lead to successful brainwashing. But coercion cannot change people's hearts, and most practitioners who accepted the brainwashing once became clear-minded later, and declared the brainwashing null. The guards extended those collaborators' terms and threatened them to prevent them from becoming clear-headed.
The Shandong Province 610 Office holds a brainwashing session working together with the Wangcun Labor Camp. There are two Shandong Province Level brainwashing sessions, one is in Zibo City (Wangcun Town, close to the camp), the other is in Jinan City. Each practitioner taken to the Wangcun location, from all over the province, has to pay 5,000 yuan. There were 19 practitioners arrested together in 2001 in Longkou City, fined 100,000 yuan, and sent to be brainwashed in the (Wangcun) Zibo City brainwashing center. They were all bused to Wangcun Labor Camp and forced to go through collaborators' brainwashing. One female practitioner among them was deprived her right to sleep for a week while collaborators were brainwashing her. She was forced to sit on a small stool, and her lower body became swollen. Practitioners on hunger strikes were force-fed. The guards would pull the tube back and forth, causing stomach bleeding. Some practitioners' stomachs were severely damaged. The guards also took very solid practitioners to a mental hospital. According to incomplete statistics, there were nearly 1,000 practitioners arrested from the province and forced to go through brainwashing in the Wangcun Labor Camp right after they arrived at the province's Zibo City brainwashing center.
(1) Wearing a cotton coat and pants, some practitioners are forced to sit down beside the cell vent in a very uncomfortable contorted position, unable to stretch or lie down. The water dungeon area is very small and one can't lean against the wall for support. The practitioner is forced to sit on the cold cement floor. The police would then pour water onto the floor, soaking the coat and pants with freezing water. After they repeatedly pour water into the dungeon, one's body will be completely soaked and partially immersed in water. Oftentimes the water can get to be chest deep. Ice-cold water and wind would chill one to the bones. If one does not yield to them, this torture continues indefinitely. See illustration at http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2004/7/5/49890p.html.
(2) Practitioners were forced to stand 24 hours a day continuously for over a month and not allowed to sit down or sleep. The persecutors took turns yelling and screaming at them, fighting and beating them during this time. See case on http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2004/1/30/44560p.html

Ms. Xu Chunmei Dies as a Result of Persecution in Heilongjiang Province
(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Xu Chunmei, 55, was a retired teacher from Daqing City's 49th Middle School. She began practicing Falun Dafa in 1998, and became very healthy. She strictly disciplined herself according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She worked tirelessly without complaint, and never fought with others over personal interests. She was deeply loved by her students, the students' parents, and her colleagues. She was awarded an "Excellent Teacher" prize many times.
Ever since the Chinese Communist Party began persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, countless practitioners have been detained, sent to forced labor camps, imprisoned, and even tortured to disability or death. Ms. Xu feared being mistreated, and gave up her cultivation for a while. She retired, and discovered she had a minor illness in 2005. She came back to cultivation, and clarified the truth to people.
On June 24, 2008, she went to clarify the truth with fellow practitioners at Firestone Mountain in Anda City. A large group of officers from the Firestone Police Station arrested and detained them in the Anda City Detention Center. More than a dozen practitioners were detained in one room, with no water to drink, and very little food to eat. They had to sleep on the damp, cold floor. Ms. Xu became very weak, and started to pass blood in her urine. Her body was swollen and her face was very pale. The guards ignored her condition, and the 610 Office agents kept interrogating her. She endured extreme mental pressure and physical mistreatment.
On July 25, 2008, Ms. Xu was released, together with several other practitioners, but they were each fined 10,000 yuan. The center's administration ordered them to report to the Detention Center monthly. Ms. Xu quickly recovered through studying the Fa and doing the exercises upon her return home.
On August 24, 2008, the Anda City Detention Center brought her back to report on her situation. The guards wrote down a report, and then forced her to sign her name. Many practitioners were arrested during the Olympic season and sentenced to imprisonment. She saw fellow practitioners being tortured until they could not walk, and had to be helped by others to walk to the court. She could not bear the painful experience, and passed out several times.
The Anda City Detention Center kept calling her to come in and report her situation. She was very worried of being brutally mistreated again. She could not eat or sleep, her head was swollen, and she had difficulty breathing. She again developed blood in her urine, and her heart, lungs, and kidneys were all failing. She died at 7:30 a.m. on December 7, 2008. The administrations of the Firestone Police Station, Anda City Detention Center, and 610 Office are responsible for her death.

Mr. Wang Peiming Died Three Years ago in Chenghai City
Mr. Wang Peiming, in his 50s, used to be a volunteer for Chenghai City's Falun Dafa Assistance Center. He also volunteered at the Shantou City Assistance Center (which was legally registered with the Shantou City Physical Education Bureau). After July 20, 1999, he and fellow practitioner Mr. Cai Hanshen were detained for two weeks in a secret place by the Waisha Town 610 Office, and were not allowed any visitors. He was severely threatened and insulted, forced to go through brainwashing, and write guarantee statements.
In June 2000, Chenghai City Police Department and 610 Office made a series of large scale arrests. They detained Mr. Wang for three days in the Police Compound building, then transferred him to the Baisha Detention Center. His house and store were sealed, and his car was taken to be used by officers in Baisha Town Police Station. He was threatened badly, and the police extorted money from him. Officer Li Dongming of the Shantou City Police Department threatened to torture Mr. Wang to death many times if he refused to give up his faith.
The Shantou City Police Department, Chenghai City Police Department, and 610 officers violated legal procedures and detained Mr. Wang for two years in the Baisha Detention Center. During those two years, Mr. Wang endured lots of torture.
After being released from the Baisha Detention center, officers from Waisha Station and 610 Office forcibly took him into custody again, and detained him in a secret place for two months. There they used all the brutality they could to force him to give up his faith, and write a "transformation statement" against his will. Theoretically he was free, but his spirit was destroyed-- a terrifying ending worse than the loss of personal freedom. He felt regret and guilt for a long time, and died on September 19, 2005.

Husband Given Illegal Prison Sentence; Wife Sent to Brainwashing Center
(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Jiang Zonglin was formerly the superintendent of the Mingyuan Architecture Design Institute, a part of the Chengdu City government. On August 2, 2007, he was arrested at home by police. Jiang's family never received any legal documentation and only heard much later that he was subjected to brainwashing. He was not allowed to sleep for sixty straight hours.
On September 27 and October 10 of 2008, Wuhou Court set a trial for Jiang Zonglin, Zhong Fangqiong and eight other practitioners. Defense lawyers retained by the family pointed out that no law defines Falun Gong as a cult or illegal organization. Jiang Zonglin did no harm to society and should be released. However, the court handed Jiang Zonglin a five-year sentence.
On Monday, December 8, 2008, which is the petition reception day for the Sichuan Province government, Jiang's wife Xie Chengxin went to the government office to appeal for her husband. However, she was taken away and threatened by Fuqin Street 610 Office member Xie Shilong, policemen Wu Lirong and Jinqin community officer Ye Kaixing.
On December 12, 2008, Xie Chengxin and Jiang Longyin were clarifying the truth at Zhaojue Temple, and they were reported by a monk. Officers from the Qinglong Police Station then arrested them. In the afternoon, they notified the Fuqin Police Station and the Fuqin Street Committee to pick them up. Xie Shilong then sent these two practitioners to the Jingniu Law Education Center for brainwashing. The family pointed out that this was illegal. Xie Shilong said, "You go ahead and accuse me!" He then shuffled the family to the Jingniu 610 Office.
The Director of the Jingniu Brainwashing Center is Li, and two people that work there are Li Daquan from the Simaqiao Street Committee and Xia from the Hehuachi Street Committee. There is another person there named Li Lian. Two of them are retirees receiving a salary from the brainwashing center, and they get bonuses according to the number of Falun Gong practitioners being detained. In addition, they get an allowance when they sleep overnight at the brainwashing center and get call-back pay for the weekend, which is 20 yuan per day.
After Falun Gong practitioners arrive here, they are isolated, and each person is monitored by two people. The people doing the monitoring are usually unemployed or retirees hired by the center. The room is 24 square meters. There are three beds, a long desk and a TV that broadcasts CCP propaganda around the clock at a high volume. The monitors are to report to the center authorities if the practitioners try to clarify the truth about Falun Gong to them. They forbid the practitioners from reciting Dafa books, doing the Falun Gong exercises or talking to them about Falun Gong. The practitioners are forced to watch the propaganda programs all day. At 8 p.m. every night, guards lock a practitioner and two monitoring people in the room and unlock the door at 7:30 a.m. The outside is monitored by three guards, and the yard is guarded by two large dogs.

The Persecution of Practitioners in Shandong Province Men's Prison
By a person with inside information at Shandong Province Men's Prison
(Clearwisdom.net) The Shandong Province Men's Prison, also known as the Shandong Province No. 1 Prison, is located in Jinan City. It is notorious for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. The guards in the No. 11 Ward use all types of torture techniques such as brainwashing, hypocrisy, cajoling, force-feeding, sleep deprivation, sitting on a board (1), solitary confinement, shocking with an electric baton, mental torment, criticism, denunciation, and humiliation to compel practitioners to do things against their will and renounce Dafa.
The prison authorities claimed that they were successful in "transforming" 100 percent of the practitioners, and that none of them returned to the practice of Falun Gong. As a result they were commended by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the prison was designated an "advanced" institution. The prison is open to the public and receives visitors nearly every day. The visitors include police officers, students, and sometimes foreigners. The prison authorities conceal the unceasing persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners and this outright pretense continues to poison people.
The No. 11 Ward is specifically set up to persecute Falun Gong. Guards encourage inmates to abuse practitioners. Except for some felons, most of the inmates are CCP officials guilty of corruption. They were high ranking officials that lived through the Great Cultural Revolution, so they are familiar with exercising a series of tactics to discipline others. When the prison authorities linked personal gain, such as sentence reduction, with the abuse of practitioners, the inmates became hostile to the practitioners and acted as the CCP's thugs.
To "transform" the practitioners, the prison gave governing power to the inmates to monitor, strictly control, and beat practitioners. The prison set up a so-called "strictly controlled team" and a "consolidation team." Any practitioner who refused to renounce his belief would be abused by the "strictly controlled team." Seven or eight inmates were assigned to torment one practitioner. The inmates were murderers, gang members, or those guilty of corruption
The practitioners who held steadfast to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and their belief in Teacher were locked in a remodeled cell, with the door and windows sealed tightly. The practitioners were detained separately, and inhumanly tortured at night. Their cries could be heard throughout the entire ward. To cover up their crimes, the thugs stuffed socks, towels, or rags into the practitioners' mouths.
They also wrote Master Li's name on the practitioners' benches and beds with virulent intent. Practitioners were forced to swear at people, otherwise, they would be deprived of sleep. Some were forced to sit on a small bench for a long time until their buttocks festered. They were forced to watch videos slandering Falun Gong and if they closed their eyes, the thugs would push open their eyelids. Some of the practitioners held a hunger strike to protest the persecution and were brutally force-fed.
The following is brief information about some of the male practitioners that are being persecuted in the Shandong Province Men's Prison.
Mr. Zhang Lejin, who lives in Northeast China, was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment for tapping into a TV signal to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. As a result of abuse in detention, he developed a disease of the rectum and has great difficulty defecating. He has suffered immensely.
Mr. Huang Min of Northeast China was also sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment for tapping into a TV signal to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. He has suffered long-term inhuman abuse, such as force-feeding, beatings, and and denigration.
Mr. Wang Fengyu, in his 50s, lived in Laiwu City, Shandong Province. He was sentenced to nine years. He was force-fed and beaten and became extremely weak as a result. His family was prohibited from seeing him for a long time.
Mr. Shi Zenglei lived in Linyi City, Shandong Province. He was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment. He was brutally beaten and injured and still experiences pain. The guards broke his spirit by criticizing and denouncing him at meetings that were structured similar to those that occurred during the Great Cultural Revolution. Consequently, he became extremely weak and had difficulty taking care of himself.
Mr. Liu Guixian lived in Jiaodong Peninsula, Shandong Province. He was sentenced to nine years. He suffered brutal abuse and became extremely thin.
Mr. Gao Hongjie lived in Anqiu City, Shandong Province. He was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment. He was beaten, cursed regularly, deprived of sleep, and forced to sit on a small, backless stool for long periods of time.
Mr. Wang Xidong lived in Jiaodong Peninsula, Shandong Province. He was brutally beaten. Once he was struck on the back of the neck and fainted instantly. As a result, his cervical vertebra was severely damaged and he frequently felt dizzy.
Mr. Li Jianqiang, an alias, lived in Jiaodong Peninsula, Shandong Province. He was subjected to long-term "strict control." He was deprived of sleep and beaten. His leg was disabled and he was forced to sit on a small, backless stool for long periods of time and his buttocks festered as a result. He endured excruciating pain. He is currently in a weak state and his face is gaunt due to the abuse he has suffered. He held a hunger strike to protest the abuse and was force-fed. Everyone in the ward witnessed the persecution inflicted on practitioners by the guards and inmates. Some of them said admiringly, "I witnessed with my own eyes that Falun Gong practitioners are very brave."
Mr. Zhao Weidong was sentenced to seven years. The guards abused him over a long period of time both mentally and physically. His family is very poor and cannot afford to treat his son, who is disabled. His wife does not have an income. Both the wife and son are awaiting his return.
Mr. Yi Xiangyang, in his 50s, was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment. He was beaten, deprived of sleep, hit with an electric baton, and all his teeth were knocked out. His family is very poor and could not afford to buy meat during the spring festival. His son could not bear the circumstances and tried committed suicide without success.
The guards and their accomplices were still not satisfied with the practitioners who had given up Falun Gong against their will. Further mental abuse was inflicted on them. Meetings that criticized and denounced them were organized. They were forced to listen to slanderous video and tape recordings. They were also ordered repeatedly to write articles slandering Falun Gong and "confess" that they had committed a crime. They were severely demeaned both mentally and physically. Their mental anguish was severe and difficult to mend. Not only did they lose their personal freedom but they were also mentally devastated.
Note:
(1) Sitting on a board - Every day, practitioners were forced to put their hands on top of their laps, with backs straight and sit on benches 18 hours per day. This continued for over fifty days. The authorities limited practitioners' restroom use. Because of the long time spent sitting on hard benches, practitioners' buttocks developed large sores that hurt badly. Practitioners could not urinate normally because of the pain. Because of being locked up for long periods of time under wet and damp conditions with no ventilation or sunlight, practitioners developed scabies, which were extremely itchy and painful. See case at: http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2002/7/29/24631.html.

The Brutal and Torturous Ordeals That Ms. Miu Cui Has Endured
By a practitioner in Hunan Province
(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Miu Cui, a Falun Dafa practitioner in her 50s, is from Pingjiang County in the Yueyang area of Hunan Province. She was tortured many times because of her firm belief in Falun Dafa. At 9 p.m., on May 27, 2007, prison guard Li Jun and several prisoners in the Hunan Women's Prison, used a rope to tie Ms. Miu's wrists behind her back and then hung her up in the air. They tried to force her to sign a statement to say she would renounce her belief in Falun Dafa. In excruciating pain, she lost control of her bowels and started to bleed from her vagina. The guard then took her down her, dragged her to the bathroom to clean herself up, and then hung her up again. She was tortured repeatedly until 4 a.m. the following day. A month later she started to bleed from her vagina again. When a doctor from the provincial hospital examined her, he discovered that she was in the last stages of uterine cancer and he told her she probably had a maximum of three months to live.
The following is Ms. Miu Cui's story.
Practitioners are tortured in detention centers
In December 1999, Ms. Miu and several other practitioners went to Beijing to protest the persecution of Falun Dafa. They were arrested and detained for three days, without food or water, at the Youjie Detention Center in Beijing. On the fourth day, Liu Riguang from the Yueyang City 610 Office took the practitioners to the Pingjiang County Detention Center, where they were tortured.
Those that participated in torturing practitioners in the Pingjiang County Detention Center in 2000 included Hong (given name unknown) and Mao Bofan from the county Public Safety Bureau and Li Shangpeng, Hu Heping, Wang Meilan, Zhan Jianchi, Yu Gui, and Chen Meihua from the detention center. They often tortured practitioners by handcuffing them and suspending them off the ground, using electric batons on them, locking them in solitary confinement, beating them, and pouring urine on them.

One day Ms. Miu was doing the sitting meditation, a Falun Dafa exercise, when guard Wang Meilan saw her. Wang yelled, "You are dead if you continue." Ms. Miu didn't listen to the guard. Wang went into her cell and shocked her on the head and neck with an electric baton. A thick, smoldering smell came from her burning skin. Ms. Miu was then put in solitary confinement for 20 hours. When she was put back in her cell, she was already unconscious.
Because there were already many practitioners in this detention center, Mao Bofan from the Pingjiang County Public Safety Bureau was responsible for separating them. Ms. Miu was transferred to the Yueyang County Detention Center, where there were already six practitioners.
All the practitioners in the Yueyang County Detention Center went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The guards brutally beat and force-fed them. To force-feed the practitioners, they ordered other prisoners to drag them out of their cells one-by-one. They handcuffed them behind their backs and beat them until they fell down. Then the prisoners stood on the practitioners' legs and shoulders to hold them down. The prisoners then forcefully inserted a plastic tube up through each practitioner's nose and poured concentrated salt water down the tube. The practitioner's stomach would quickly swell up and become extremely painful. The practitioner's nose would often bleed copiously and there would be blood, salt water, and dust all over their hair, face, and chest.
All the practitioners were force-fed eight times. Their noses swelled and festered, their chests were in excruciating pain, and they could barely breathe. They could hardly walk and were bleeding from their mouths. Ms. Miu was later transferred back to the Pingjiang Detention Center. That night she had diarrhea and a fever and vomited. She was severely ill for several days. Her weight dropped from 110 lbs to 60 lbs and she lost most of her hair.
Sentenced and tortured in prison
On June 13, 2000, Ms. Miu was put on trial for practicing Falun Dafa. On the day of the trial, she read her letter of defense to the judges, prosecutors, court staff, and spectators so that she could clarify the truth about Falun Dafa. The judge was speechless and ended the trial in less than 30 minutes.
In July 2000, Ms. Miu received her verdict from the judges. She was informed, "We know you are innocent, but we have to follow orders from above." She was sentenced to three years and sent to the Hunan Women's Prison on March 23, 2001.
Luo Jian, a guard at the prison, was a major participant in the persecution of practitioners there. She spoke harshly to the practitioners and brutally tortured them. On Ms. Miu's first day there, she was forced to do intensive work. Prison guard Luo ordered prisoners Chen Wenhong and Zhen Liutao to monitor Ms. Miu around the clock. Ms. Miu's job was to cut the threads off a large pile of bed sheets, fold them, and pack them all. She was not allowed to walk, talk, drink water, or go to the toilet.
Ms. Miu worked from 6:30 a.m. until 1 a.m. the following day. After three days, her face and legs were severely swollen, and she couldn't bend her fingers or walk. She believed she was innocent and did not deserve to be treated this way. The next day she went to guard Luo's office and told Luo she would not work anymore. Luo did not want to listen and decided to punish her by making her stand for prolonged periods of time for five days. Ms. Miu's body was severely swollen all over and she developed a bad fever. On the sixth day, she refused to go to work and stayed in her cell to write an appeal letter. Luo took her paper away and ordered her to continue standing for the next few days.
Brainwashing
On May 17, all 11 practitioners were ordered to be brainwashed by prison guard Hao Chunling. Every practitioner was monitored and closely followed every day by two guards and four prisoners from 5 a.m. to 3 a.m. the following day. Practitioners had to run, do push-ups, squat for long periods of time, stand for long periods of time, climb walls, and sit on a 'T'-shaped chair for long periods of time. Practitioners were shouted at, deprived of sleep and use of the toilet, shocked with electric batons, and forced to transcribe from books assigned by the prison.
During her 57 days of imprisonment, Ms. Miu still maintained she had not committed any crime by practicing Falun Dafa. When the brainwashing attempts failed to make her renounce her belief in Falun Dafa, she was returned to the intensive labor ward and tortured.
One day, a prisoner who knew the truth about the persecution brought Ms. Miu Teacher's latest lecture from 2002 in Washington, D.C. When prison guard Luo found out, Ms Miu was handcuffed and paraded in front of everyone in the prison to humiliate her. Luo them put her in a solitary confinement cell that was infested with bugs and mosquitoes. Ms. Miu went on a hunger strike to protest.
Three days into the hunger strike the warden came, so Ms. Miu quickly wrote an appeal letter to inform the warden of how she had been tortured. Three days later she was let out of solitary confinement and Luo was removed from her position within a week.
Tortured again
After Luo was removed, Ms Miu was still forced to work more than 18 hours a day. Ms Liu and Ms. Jin Xinchun, another practitioner, decided to expose what was going on in the prison to Li Yunfeng, the head of the provincial forced labor bureau, who would visit the prison in November 2001.
Li Yunfeng did visit the prison on November 17, 2001, and 30 minutes after the two practitioners started working, they were ordered to go back to their cells. When they refused, prison supervisors Huang Can and Li Jun, along with other guards, dragged the two practitioners out of the workshop and handcuffed them to a handrail until the visitors had left.
In November the weather is cold, but still the guards forced both practitioners to lie on top of an iron bed and handcuffed them there from 6 a.m. to midnight and then handcuffed them under the iron bed from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. This torture continued for seven days and nights. As a result Ms. Miu's hands festered and her whole body was swollen.
After the incident on November 17, prison guards intensified the persecution of practitioners. Prison guard Li Jun beat Ms. Miu until she fell to the ground, then stood on her back. Ms. Miu was forced into the torture position called "Carrying the double-edged sword on the back." In this position, her hands were handcuffed behind her back and she was hung up in the air by her wrists. Her body weight pulled on her shoulders, elbows, and wrist joints, causing excruciating pain. Within 10 minutes her clothes were soaked in sweat and she lost control of her bowels. She lost consciousness in 20 minutes. When she regained consciousness, she noticed that her wrists were bleeding severely. The prison guards ordered practitioners to write a statement to say that they would never try to appeal to officials visiting the prison, but all of the practitioners refused. The next day the guards paraded the practitioners in front of other prisoners to humiliate them. A guard then tried to choke Ms. Liu and yelled at her to lower her head. Ms. Miu soon fainted and was put in solitary confinement for 15 days.
The torture called "Three Gates"
"Three Gates" is also called "Gate of Hell." When practitioners were sent there, they were searched and had to kneel on the ground, raise their hands, and shout "Criminal (practitioner's name) is here to report." Many practitioners refused to do this, so they were beaten and shocked with electric batons.
At 1 a.m. on September 15, 2002, prison guard Tang yelled at Ms. Miu, "Why don't you kneel down? I am making you kneel down today!" Tang took out a high voltage electric baton to shock her. As Ms. Miu was shocked, the sparks could be seen in the dark. She was in extreme pain as she rolled back and forth on the ground. Later, guard Li Jun ordered prisoners Li Yuanmei, Xu Jun, and Wu Yanfei to kick and beat Ms. Miu while she was on the floor. Immediately, blood started gushing out of her nose and mouth.
Hung by the wrists while handcuffed behind the back
In the evening on September 26, 2002, Warden Zhao Lan ordered 4,000 prisoners to watch a video that slandered Falun Dafa. A dozen practitioners shouted, trying to clarify the truth. Warden Zhao ordered the guards to take Ms. Miu, Ms. Yan Hong, Ms. Zhang Yaya, and Ms. Liu Daju out and beat them severely. As a result, Ms. Miu could not hear through her right ear for two weeks. The practitioners were then handcuffed and put in solitary confinement. They were also denied any examination or treatment for their injuries.
Ms. Miu was in solitary confinement for two weeks. When she returned to her cell, she was tortured with the "Carrying the double-edged sword on the back" method again. Several days later, she developed a fever that would not go away and she couldn't drink water. Prisoners Li Wumei and Xu Jun lied to the guards, saying that Ms. Miu was on a hunger strike. The guards then dragged Ms. Miu from her bed to the ground. They dragged her from the fifth floor to the first floor, then to the workshop. In less than 30 minutes, her clothes were all ripped and her back, bottom, and the heels of her feet were severely injured. She was then handcuffed to a window ledge in the workshop.
Ms. Liu attempted to put her ripped clothes in a bag to save as evidence of how the prison guards torture practitioners. Two weeks later her clothes were gone. Other prisoners had stolen her bag and destroyed the evidence. To cover their crimes and let the wounds on her body fade away, the guards stopped torturing Ms. Miu in 2003 and let her return home on March 25, 2003.
Police against Ms. Miu
On June 20, 2003, Ms. Miu, Ms. Zhang Lihong, and Ms. Zhang Lanhui went to Lijiaduan in Miluo City to distribute truth-clarification materials. Zhou Bo and other police officers from the Lijiaduan Police Station arrested the three practitioners. They and officers from the Miluo 610 Office then tied them to chairs and beat them with wooden rods and shoes to extort a confession from them. The practitioners started to bleed as a result of the beatings. The police then forced the practitioners to kneel down and denied them food or use of the toilet for 17 hours. The police then locked them up in the Xiangyin County Detention Center.
In the detention center the practitioners refused to eat for six days. Guard Hu Jianjun and officials from the Miluo City 610 Office later questioned them, but Ms. Miu refused to be interrogated. An officer then grabbed her by the neck and hit her head against a wall; she fainted immediately. Ms. Miu's health started to deteriorate. The three practitioners were taken to the Xiangyin People's Hospital for emergency treatment. An officer from the Miluo City 610 Office still intended to sentence the three practitioners, no matter what.
Several days later, the Miluo County Court set up a trial in the practitioners' room in the hospital. The practitioners were still on oxygen and couldn't move. As a judge entered the room she covered her nose and said, "It smells so bad here. It is like there are three corpses here." Several days later the verdict came: Ms. Miu was sentenced to six years, Ms. Zhang Lihong and Ms. Zhang Lanhui were sentenced to four years each.
On January 16, 2004, guard Hu Jianjun from the Xiangyin Detention Center and Xu Jianqiu, a forensic medical doctor, took the three practitioners, who were still carrying oxygen tanks, to the Hunan Women's Prison. The results of medical exams given at the 112 Police Hospital stated that Ms. Miu had multiple illnesses and the other practitioners had very high blood pressure and could have a stroke at any time. Therefore, the three practitioners were unfit to be sent to prison. Hu and Xu quickly used their connections to put the practitioners in prison.
Tortured again in the Hunan Women's Prison
The number of imprisoned practitioners increased from eleven in 2001 to over 200 in 2004. Their ages ranged from under 20 to over 70. Ms. Miu, Ms. Zhang Lihong, and Ms. Zhang Lanhui were all tortured by the "Three Gates". Those who took part in torturing the practitioners were Li Chunhui, Li Jun, Luo Jian, and Mao Huiping.
All practitioners were monitored and closely followed by two prisoners 24 hours a day. They had to perform over 15 hours of intensive labor each day. Their jobs were to peel broad beans, skewer pieces of lamb meat, weave mats using split bamboo, fold tissue paper, and do embroidery. To prevent them from having any contact with the outside, the guards put 12 to 14 people in a room less than 30 square yards and the practitioners had to live, eat, wash, and sleep there. In summer, the water that was used to soak the broad beans had a terrible smell, and the room was infested with bugs. In winter, everything was wet and damp because the room was full of water buckets with beans in them. Practitioners were not allowed family visits, parcels, shopping, or talking to anyone. The guards often searched their room and would take away paper, pens, and other personal belongings and burn them.
On May 5, 2007, guard Luo ordered several practitioners to drag Ms. Miu to the brainwashing center. The brainwashing center was deeply hidden within the prison, and all the windows and doors were closed. No one was allowed in or out, except those who tortured the practitioners. Practitioners taken there suffered physical and mental torture for a long time. Some of them became incoherent and some died. Ms. Li Deyin died in May 2007, less than three months after she was put in the brainwashing center.
Those who participated in the torture in the brainwashing center included Zhao Lan, the warden; Xiao Ping and Zhou Chan, supervisors of a prison ward; Li Jun, Luo Jian, Mao Huiping, and Deng Jin, all guards; and Huo Rong, Liu Qin, and Li Yanling, all prisoners.
Life in danger as a result of torture
At 9 p.m. on May 27, 2007, guard Li Jun and several prisoners from the Hunan Women's Prison tortured Ms. Miu with "Carrying the double-edged sword on the back." They wanted to force her to sign a statement renouncing her belief in Falun Dafa. She was in such excruciating pain that she sweat heavily, lost control of her bowels, and started bleeding from her vagina. The guard loosened her, dragged her to the bathroom to wash herself, and hung her up again. She was tortured repeatedly until 4 a.m. the next day. A month later she had blood flooding out of her vagina. A doctor from a provincial hospital examined her and found out that she was in the last stages of uterine cancer and had a maximum of three months to live.
In order to cover up their crimes and rid themselves of responsibility, guards from the Hunan Women's Prison quickly bailed her out for medical treatment and sent her home on January 19, 2008.
Officers from various 610 Offices and the police often still go to Ms. Miu's home to harass her. During the Olympics, domestic security officers constantly monitored her. On December 2, 2008, three people from the Hunan Women's Prison and three officers from the Yueyang 610 Office found her and told her to have a health check-up. Their intention was to put her back in prison once her health had recovered. Her exam results remained the same as before, so the officers had to give up.

Mr. Yan Shoulin Arrested for Defending Practitioners in Court
(Clearwisdom.net) On the afternoon of December 2, 2008, practitioners Mr. Yan Shoulin, Ms. Yang Chunmei, and her younger brother Yang Bin from Dengshahe Town, Jinzhou District, Dalian City, Liaoning Province, were arrested. Yang Bin has since been released and sent home, Yang Chunmei is still being illegally detained at the Liangjiadian Police Station, and Yan Shoulin's whereabouts are unknown.
The practitioners, along with Ms. Yang Chunmei's husband, own and operate a photo shop.
In March 2008, Ms. Gu Li and Ms. Qiu Shuping from Dengshahe Town, Jinzhou District of Dalian City were arrested by the local authorities while telling people the facts about the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong. On August 27, 2008, the CCP-controlled court put them on trial. Practitioner Mr. Yan Shoulin defended Ms. Gu Li and Attorney Wang Yonghang from Dalian City defended Qiu Shuping.
The two lawyers presented their defense arguments in court. Their main points were: (1) The court charged Ms. Qiu Shuping of "sabotaging law enforcement." However, Ms. Qiu did not know which law she sabotaged. Nor did she know how she sabotaged its enforcement. Even the judge and prosecutors do not know which law Ms. Qiu had sabotaged. (2) There was no criminal act.
After the lawyers concluded their defense, practitioner Gu Li was sentenced to three years in prison and Ms. Qiu Shuping to four years.
After the trial, Mr. Yan Shoulin was frequently followed. Attorney Wang Yonghang's license to practice law was taken away by the government, and the law firm he worked for terminated his contract.
At around 1:30 p.m. on December 2, 2008, Mr. Yan and his family were working in their shop when a group of unidentified individuals broke in, started punching and kicking Mr. Yan, and then arrested him. His wife Yang Chumei protested the violence and the arrest. She was then taken to the nearby police station by four plain-clothes policemen. Yang Chunmei's younger brother Yang Bin was also arrested.
The whole incident lasted almost three hours, during which time their neighbors and passersby condemned the police officers' brutal behavior. One of the police officers flashed his official ID badge and threatened on-lookers not to get involved or get close.

Ms. Li Yanhui from Zhoukou City, Henan Province, Illegally Sentenced to Four Years of Detention
(Clearwisdom.net)
Ms. Li Yanhui, who worked in a Chinese medicine hospital in Zhoukou City, Henan Province, was recently illegally sentenced to four years in the city detention center by CCP officials. Her second trial will be held soon. Ms. Li has been on a hunger strike for more than 10 days. The police have been inserting a tube into her stomach to cruelly force-feed her. She is very weak and cannot walk without leaning against the walls.
Ms. Li Yanhui is in her 40s and was an anesthetist in the Chinese medicine hospital. After she began to practice Falun Gong, she became a good person by following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She worked conscientiously and was always very kind to others. Her colleagues and patients consistently praised her.
A group of police officers under Gao Feng of the CCP National Security Group, the Shanan Division of the Zhoukou City Police Department, followed Ms. Li Yanhui for nearly a month. They arrested her on August 21, 2008, at work. The hospital administrator led the police to search her house. Ms. Li's mother was so frightened by the sudden police intrusion that she fainted.
We appeal to the international community and human rights organizations to help to rescue Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Yanhui.

Witnessing Ms. Tian Huiying's So-called "Suicide Attempt" in the Sanshui Women's Forced Labor Camp
(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Tian Huiying was killed in a so-called "suicide attempt" in July 2005 as claimed by the Sanshui Women's Forced Labor Camp. She was 50 years old. I witnessed the entire process of her being persecuted.
Before her death, Ms. Tian Huiying was detained at the No. 6 Team of the No. 1 District in Sanshui Women's Forced Labor Camp. She was often monitored by criminal inmates who would beat her up. Her hands and feet were black and blue with bruises. At night, I often saw her with an empty bucket standing near the door. She wanted to get some water but could not (since there were so many drug addict inmates and limited water usage). Therefore, she was the only one who was standing on one side when they were lined up. However, the guards claimed that she refused to wash herself. As a result, the drug addicts said she smelled bad and treated her even more poorly.
One day during July 2005, the forced labor camp held an art performance and invited some disabled people to sing songs. That day, during lunch time, people from the No. 6 Team were lined up to get ready to go to the cafeteria to have lunch. When they passed by the door of the No. 4 Team, a car carrying performance equipment drove out of the cafeteria (which is also used as a stadium). The car drove out of the cafeteria, passed the door of the No. 4 Team, and struck Ms. Tian Huiying. The wheels of the car drove over her legs and feet. She immediately lost consciousness.
Later on, the team leader and police said that Ms. Tian had run towards the car to commit suicide and that the people who were monitoring her could not stop her. In fact, there were no guards at the scene. Moreover, the two criminals who were monitoring Ms. Tian were very strong young men. How could they have been unable to stop Ms. Tian Huiying, who was emaciated and only skin and bones? I witnessed with my own eyes that Ms. Tian Huiying was walking on one side of the line. The car hit her on purpose.
The next day, the police told the people in the forced labor camp that nobody was allowed to talk about the event, not even to mention it to people in other teams or outsiders. They threatened that anyone who leaked the news would be punished with an extended term. The police also spread the lie that Ms. Tian Huiying was fine, and that only her feet were hurt. In order to block the news, people in the forced labor camp were not allowed to make outside calls for two months.
In fact, it was well known that Ms. Tian had not run towards the car to commit suicide. The guards were afraid of being held responsible for what happened, so they reported to their superiors, people in other teams, and to her family members, that Ms. Tian had committed suicide by running towards the car. Some witnesses tried to tell what really happened, but the police said, "It is not true even though you saw it with your own eyes!"

Teacher Zhao Yongcai in Shulan City Subjected to Persecution by School and Local Government for Many Years
(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Zhao Yongcai, and I am a teacher in Shangying Town, Shulan City, Jilin Province. Before the persecution began on July 20, 1999, I practiced Falun Gong at the practice site at Shangying Train Station. Around June 1999, police officer Yu Wenzhi from the Shangying Police Station came to the practice site and collected practitioners' names, addresses, and work information. On July 20, my company forced me to turn in my book and asked me to write a "pledge letter" to renounce Falun Gong. I refused, and I was taken to the police station that night. The town mayor Chen Yuman and Shangying Town Central School principal Guo Qingfeng then began verbally abusing me there. After that night, I was continually harassed, detained, sent to forced labor, and fined by the local authorities.
1. Persecuted by Shangying Town Central School
On October 1, 1999, the Shangying Town Central School detained me and another practitioner, Yao Yuguo, at the school for two days. They sent Qian Junsheng and Wei Xuliang to watch us. Some time in November 1999, they detained us again for two days while the central government was having a conference in Beijing. On politically-sensitive dates they asked the former principal of Zhengyang Elementary School to come and watch Yao and me and turn in reports.
2. Beaten Severely by Police in Prison and Forced Labor Camp
I went to Beijing to validate Dafa in 2000, and I was savagely beaten by plainclothes police and sent to the Huairou District Prison in Beijing, where I was beaten again by guards and inmates. When I went to Beijing, the Shangying Town Central School sent Chu Qingsheng and Wei Xuliang to Beijing to look for me, and they deducted their trip expenses, over a thousand yuan, from my wages. They took me to the Shulan City Police Department and charged me with "disturbing social order." They put me in the Nanshan Prison, where I was beaten by inmates. Around April 2000, I was transferred to the Huanxiling Forced Labor Camp in Jilin Province. The guards there used six electric batons simultaneously to shock me, and beat me for three hours, trying to force me to give up Falun Gong.
3. Shangying Town Central Principal Fines Me
In mid-November 2001, I was released from the forced labor camp. The Shangying Town Central School had Chu Qingsheng and Ren Desheng, an accountant, come get me. They arrived on November 13, although the release notice said I was to be released on November 11, so I was jailed for two extra days. When I got back to the school, they deducted a year of my salary, and the education bureau deducted two thousand yuan from me. They didn't show me any receipts except for a note by Wen Changji. They also charged me an extra 500 yuan to cover the principal's debt to them. I was then transferred from the Shangying Town Central School to the Jiefang Elementary School.
The Shangying Police Station also searched my home without a warrant three times between 2001 and 2006.
4. Persecuted by Nanshan Prison and Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jiutai City
On May 11, 2006, the Shulan National Security Division came to my house and conducted a search. They didn't find anything they were looking for, but they still took me to the police station. The next day, they took me to the third floor of the Shulan Police Department, where the National Security Division is located. That evening, Li Zhuo and three other policemen poured mustard oil into my nostrils, attempting to force me to "confess," and detained me in Nanshan Prison. They charged me with "obstructing justice" 37 days later. I was sent to the Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jiutai City in December 2006 and detained there for one and a half years. The Intensive Ward's warden Li Yunpo ordered Xu Dian's group to beat me several times. A few other wardens and guards also participated in persecuting me. In late April 2007, I was forced to pick through melon seeds to make money for the labor camp.
5. Continued Persecution by Shangying Town Central School
On November 11, 2007, I was released from the labor camp. The Shangying Town Central School principal Xu Yanhai asked me to write a "guarantee statement," otherwise they would not assign a job for me. After a seven-day deadlock, I was sent to a remote school, Taikang Elementary School. Town Central school deducted one and a half years of salary from me, citing them as penalties for missing classes, fines by the education bureau, expenses for the 610 Office, and expenses for looking for me, including 5000 yuan for expenses from preventing me from engaging in activities. I did not get to keep any of the receipts. When the news of my arrest was exposed on the Internet, the Shulan Police Department arrested my wife and forced her to disclose the name of the person who had uploaded the news. They also confiscated my work permit.
I lived close to the school after I was released from the forced labor camp. The Town Central School principal Xu Yanhai ordered the village elementary principal Liu Xirong to watch me and report to him. During the winter vacation of 2007, I planned to go and find some extra work. Wen Chanji from the education bureau and Wang Ganshi from the 610 Office came to the school and threatened me, telling me not to do so.
When I was living in Taikong Village, police from the local station came to my home three times. The first time the station head said that he was just taking a look. The second time, they threatened me and forced me to write a guarantee statement. On August 1, 2008, they came again, arrested me, and took me to a brainwashing center.

Ms. Wang Yanqin Arrested by Police, Leaving Her Sick Husband Unattended
(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Wang Yanqin is a Falun Gong practitioner and lives in the Tang Village of Kouzhuang Town in Qianan City, Hebei Province. In July 2008, officials arrested her ahead of the Olympic Games and did not release her until October. Ms. Wang was arrested again in late November, and her whereabouts are unknown. Her husband, who is severely ill, has been left unattended.
Ms. Wang is about 48 years old. Since July 1999, she has been severely persecuted. In 2003, several policemen (Peng Minghui, Pu Yonglai, Ha Fulong and others) dragged her by the hair, beat her, and poured cigarette lighter fluid into her mouth. They then ignited the fluid and severely burned her mouth and tongue. She was unable to eat or speak, and due to the beating they gave her, she could not walk for seven or eight days.
In 2004, Ms. Wang was forced to stay away from home to avoid arret. Her son was working in a city far away, and her daughter was a middle school student. Around the time of the Chinese New Year, Ms. Wang returned home. But before she was able to have a meal with her family, she was arrested and taken to a labor camp. During that time, her husband had a stroke and no one was around to look after him. He had to crawl to the homes of neighbors in the village to get any food. His health is still precarious today.
In October 2007, before the CCP 17th Congress, officials came several times in an attempt to arrest her but failed. In July 2008, before the Olympic Games, policemen broke into her home and arrested her. Ms. Wang, wearing only a shirt and shorts, was taken away and not released until October. By then, it was already very cold, but she was still wearing only the clothes that she had on when she was arrested back in July.
In 2008, Ms. Wang was persecuted several times. Her crops were left unattended and did not grow well. What did grow could not be harvested and was either stolen or left to rot in the fields. In late November, officials arrested Ms. Wang again, and her current whereabouts are unknown.
