Ms. Yang Lijun, 64 years old, is a pediatrician. She is not only a good doctor, but also known by friends and neighbors to be a very nice person. She worked at the Tongji Hospital in Bayuquan District. Later she opened her own clinic at Haixing, Bayuquan District. Before she practiced Falun Dafa, she suffered from many illnesses. She became healthier after she practiced Falun Dafa. She treats her patients like her relatives and charges the lowest fees. For people who have no money or for low-income seniors, she will reduce her fee or treat them for free.
In the past ten years, Ms. Yang and her relatives have suffered many instances of severe persecution.
In October 1999, Yang Lijun was arrested. She was released after over twenty days detention at the Bayuquan District Detention Center.
Later, police from the Bayuquan District National Security Division and Haixing Police Station often harassed her. In 2004 she was sent to Yingkou Brainwashing Center. Although her relatives tried their best to stop it, she was still sent to be brainwashed. Dr. Yang and her fellow practitioners clarified the truth about Falun Gong to personnel in the brainwashing center. Many of them came to understand that Falun Gong is innocent and that this persecution is illegal. The brainwashing session was then discontinued.
Around 10 o'clock in the evening on September 23, 2009, police from the Bayuquan District National Security Division ransacked her home and arrested her. She was later released due to a severe heart problem and high blood pressure. But police asked Yang Lijun and her relatives to sign the paper of release for medical reasons, and threatened that she could not leave the city and needed to cooperate with the investigation.
Around the time of the New Year of 2010, Cao Ning, a procurator of Bayuquan District Procuratorate, called her and demanded that she come to the Bayuquan District Procuratorate to verify information for them. On the phone, he said they would not arrest her, but that he just wanted to verify her information.
Later a relative of Yang Lijun went to the Procuratorate to find out more. They said that they wanted to verify information with her regarding the Bayuquan District National Security Division's arrest of Falun Dafa practitioners on the evening of September 23, 2009. They wanted to find out whether Yang Lijun was qualified for exemption for medical reasons. They would send police to arrest her if she did not come to the Procuratorate.
Around January 10, 2010, three policemen from the Bayuquan District National Security Division, including one whose family name is Li, went to Ms. Yang's home again. They threatened her relatives to find her right away. Otherwise, they said they would issue a warrant for her arrest on-line.
Situation of Other Practitioners
The following practitioners were arrested on the evening of September 23, 2009: Yu Zhihong and her son Wang Zhiyuan; Dong Bing and his father and brother who don't practice Falun Gong (they were released one month later); Shen Guanghai and his wife Teng Wenmin; Bi Shijun and his wife Sun Li.
The following male practitioners are still detained at the Bayuquan District Detention Center: Wang Shenlun (46 years old), Wang Shenlun's son Wang Zhiyuan (19 years old), Dong Bing (34 years old), Shen Guanghai (37 years old), Bi Shijun (around 40 years old).
The following female practitioners are still detained at the Bayuquan District Detention Center: Yao Qiang (61 years old), Wang Shenlun's wife Yu Zhihong (45 years old), Teng Wenmin (30 years old), Sun Li (over 30 years old).
Wang Shenlun was arrested on June 10, 2009 by the Bayuquan District National Security Division, and his home was ransacked. Later the Procuratorate, court and police rigged the whole thing and secretly sentenced him to a five-year jail term. Wang Shenlun wanted to appeal, and his family members hired a lawyer for him. But Yingkou Intermediate Court rejected the appeal.
Bayuquan District National Security Division
Although the Bayuquan District National Security Division belongs to the Police Bureau, the 610 Office is directly in charge of them. It hence becomes a tool to persecute Falun Gong. Since the persecution, there have been several team leaders. Qin Shilong has been sentenced to jail due to corruption. During the search, the floor of his home was removed so they could look underneath. Wang Yousheng was transferred to the Payuquan Detention Center as political head. Wang Hongkui is the current team leader. He was deputy team leader when Wang Yousheng was team leader.
The team leaders and policemen participated in the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. They ransacked practitioners' homes and fined them illegally. Many practitioners were arrested, fined and sent to labor camps and jails.

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Liu Naichuan was a carpenter from Yinan County, Shandong Province. He and his wife Ms. Liu Tianying were persecuted repeatedly for believing in Falun Dafa. Mr. Liu Naichuan died in 2008 from injuries sustained due to torture.
Mr. Liu Naichuan and Ms. Liu Tianying have a son and a daughter. Although they were not wealthy, they lived a decent life. Unfortunately, Mr. Liu contracted a serious illness at the age of 33. He could not eat, was often short of breath, and was losing weight gradually. He thought that a few doses of traditional Chinese medicine would cure his disease, but it did not work and he became bedridden. A medical checkup at the county hospital showed that he suffered from an advanced stage of tuberculosis. The doctor told Ms. Liu Tianying that most of her husband's lungs had deteriorated, gave him some medicine and "put him into God's hands". The couple went home in despair. After that, all the housework and farm work became Ms. Liu's sole responsibility. Though life was very difficult, she did not complain. Instead, she always looked for some folk medicine to relieve her husband's suffering. When their son saw that it was too hard for his mother, he dropped out of school to help.
In 1998, Ms. Liu Tianying's parents learned Falun Gong. Not long after, all their illnesses disappeared, so they passed on the news to Ms. Liu and asked Mr. Liu Naichuan to learn Falun Gong.
Mr. Liu believed in what his parents-in-law told him. Since he could not get out of bed, Ms. Liu helped him to practice in bed. He learned the exercises set by set, and sometimes, even when he was sweating profusely, he did not want to take a break. Later when they listened to the nine lectures given by Teacher, they became even more determined to practice the exercises. Mr. Liu's tuberculosis disappeared before they even noticed. Ms. Liu Tianying was overjoyed and felt that her life was full of hope again. All this gave her long-suffering family a new life. As a result, she also began to practice Falun Gong. Her husband vowed to do all he could to help spread Falun Gong.
However, the good times did not last long. At the end of July 1999, when Mr. Liu's family was having dinner, news came of the persecution and the CCP's slander. That evening, Mr. Liu did not eat much and felt very unhappy. He thought that Falun Dafa was very good and that he was living proof. Why did the television station talk such nonsense?
A few days later, he went down the mountain to inquire about the news, and learned that many local practitioners went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. However, they were all being held in the police station to undergo brainwashing. He planned to go to Beijing also, but found out that he was under surveillance. Village leaders went to his home to warn him not to go out. Immediately after their warning, Gao Hongbin, head of the Shuanghou Township Police Station, led several thugs to Mr. Liu's home and forced their way inside. They pushed Mr. Liu into a police car and took him to the police station. The officers interrogated and threatened him at the police station, and kept him from going to Beijing.
In order to help the local people to learn about Falun Dafa, Mr. Liu often walked tens of kilometers at night to post truth-clarification banners, distribute materials and put up posters. In 2002, Gao Hongbin led a group of officers to break into Mr. Liu's home again. They ransacked his home before taking him to the police station for questioning. They attempted to make him confess, so that they could arrest more practitioners. After failing to get a confession, the officers detained and tortured him until he lost consciousness. He was then released.
Returning home, Mr. Liu continued to study the Fa and practice the exercises. As a result, he recovered quickly. Over the years, Mr. Liu spared no effort in telling people about Falun Gong and exposing the persecution.
On March 4, 2005, 610 Office officials of the Mengyin County Police Department and officers from Duozhuang Township Police Station went across the county border to break into and ransack Mr. Liu's home. They arrested Mr. Liu and his wife, and confiscated Falun Gong materials and books. The couple was taken to the Duozhuang Township Police Station, and then the police transferred Mr. Liu to Mengyin County Detention Center. Wang Wei, a 610 Office official of the Mengyin County Police Department, punched and kicked Mr. Liu. He tried to force Mr. Liu to reveal his fellow practitioners, under threat of a forced labor camp sentence. Mr. Liu refused to cooperate and suffered another beating.
In less than one month after Mr. Liu was taken to Mengyin County Police Department, he was coughing up blood and dying as a result of the harsh torture. The Mengyin County Police Department 610 Office released Mr. Liu, after forcing his children to pay them more than 3,000 yuan. Ms. Liu Tianying was transferred to the Yinan County Detention Center. After being tortured for three days, she was transferred back to Mengyin County Detention Center. During her detention, her face was deformed from the torture, and she was in a coma for a period of time. She was eventually released over one month later.
Upon his return, Mr. Liu could only lie in bed. He was unable to walk and coughed up blood often. On April 26, 2008, Mr. Liu passed away at the age of 48.
At the end of May 2008, officials from the 610 Office, the Police Department and the National Security Division of Yinan County, as well as officers from the Shuanghou Township Police Station led by Wang Jiqing, came to Mr. Liu's home again. Ms. Liu Tianying was not home at the time. The officers went to ransack other practitioners' homes first, and later returned to her home to try to arrest her.

Police in Guangzhou Seize Tickets for Shen Yun Show in Hong Kong
(Clearwisdom.net) (By a correspondent from Guangzhou City) CCP State Security agents secretly monitor ticket sales for the Shen Yun performances in Hong Kong, and try to stop people from mainland China from going to Hong Kong to watch the show. On January 8, 2010, Yang Fan's family in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province was harassed, and forced to hand over their four tickets to Shen Yun.
Mr. Yang Jun and his wife Li Jia live in Qingshan District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. They bought seven tickets to see Shen Yun in Hong Kong, and hoped to go watch the show together with family. They arrived at his son Yang Fan's home in Guangzhou, happily looking forward to the show.
CCP State Security agents and police found out about their ticket purchase via telephone eavesdropping. On January 8, 2010, five officers from Qingshan District Police Department of Wuhan City, Guangzhou City Police Department, and Panyu District Police Department stormed into Mr. Yang Fan's home in Panyu District, Guangzhou City, and forced the four to surrender their Shen Yun tickets. Otherwise, they would have been taken into custody immediately.
Mr. Yang Jun and his family had no choice but to give up their four tickets. His daughter-in-law is due to give birth in just two weeks. Meanwhile, the police demanded to know where the other 3 tickets were.
Mr. Yang Jun and his wife are both Falun Dafa practitioners, and clarified the truth to the police. The five officers finally left, but assigned neighborhood CCP personnel to closely watch the family.
The following day, eight officers stormed Mr. Yang Fan's home to demand the other 3 tickets, but they could not find Mr. Yang Jun. They returned to harass Mr. Yang Fan repeatedly, demanding to know his parent's location. Mr. Yang Fan's family thus endured huge mental pressure, especially with his wife about to give birth.

Name: Chang Guiyun (常桂云)
Gender: Female
Age: 59
Address: Unknown
Occupation: Unknown
Date of Most Recent Arrest: March 21, 2008
Most recent place of detention: Heizuizi Women's Prison of Changchun City (长春黑嘴子女子监狱)
City: Changchun
Province: Jilin
Persecution Suffered: Sleep deprivation, beatings, hung up, imprisonment, torture, physical restraint, interrogation, detention
By a Clearwisdom correspondent in Jilin Province
(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Chang Guiyun, aged 59, from Jiaohe City, Jilin Province, is being severely persecuted at the Heizuizi Women's Prison of Changchun City. She has lost all her teeth, lost a lot of weight, her facial features have become deformed and her hair has turned grey. She is unable to speak clearly or perform daily functions well.
Ms. Chang is forcibly brainwashed and constantly watched by inmates who are assigned to monitor and torture practitioners. She is forced to sit on a small plastic stool for 15 hours a day. She is also forced to watch video programs defaming Dafa, and then has to repeatedly write essays renouncing her belief in Falun Dafa. She is not allowed to go to bed until she finishes writing the essays. Every day from five in the morning until night, Ms. Chang and other practitioners are brainwashed this way. Under such great pressure, many practitioners have started showing symptoms of mental stress, and some have developed physical problems that they never had before, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, uterine cancer, ossein proliferation. These diseases cause loss of mobility and a decline in their health.
Due to the torture in the prison, Ms. Chang's arm was broken, and her cerebral thrombosis recurred. She has lost a lot of weight, her hair has turned grey, her teeth have all fallen out, she dribbles from the mouth, has difficulty eating, and she is constantly tearful. Upon seeing her condition, her family could not help but cry. During family visits, Ms. Chang just sobs. It is hard to tell the degree to which her physical and mental health has been affected by the persecution.
Ms. Chang was arrested by the police in a computer store on March 21, 2008. On July 4, she and four other practitioners Shi Xiuzhen, Zhang Min, Pang Shuwen, and Liu Baochun were sentenced by the Jiaohe Court. Ms. Chang was sentenced to eight years imprisonment. When detained at the Jiaohe Detention Center, she was tortured with various methods, including Hang Up, Hanging Up in the Air, and Tiger Bench.
Ms. Chang is a good person who has not committed any crime. She is jailed because of the persecution and the illegal trail. Due to Ms. Chang's poor health condition, her family requested the prison to release her on medical parole, but their request was rejected without any reason given.

Repeated Persecution Suffered by Ms. Dong Xiuqiong from Huili County, Sichuan Province
Name: Dong Xiuqiong (董秀琼)
Gender: Female
Age: 60
Address: Huili County, Liangshan Zhou, Sichuan Province
Occupation: Unknown
Date of Most Recent Arrest: March 9, 2007
Most recent place of detention: Huili County Detention Center (会理县拘留所)
City: Huili County
Province: Sichuan
Persecution Suffered: Detention, beatings, extortion, interrogation, physical constraint, home ransacked.
(Clearwisdom.net) (By a Clearwisdom correspondent in Sichuan Province)
Ms. Dong Xiuqiong's statement of her experiences of persecution:
Before I started practicing Falun Gong, I had all kinds of illnesses: heart disease, autonomic dysfunction, cholecytitis, nephritis, enteritis, tracheitis, lumbar disc hyperosteogeny, and hyperplasia. These illnesses caused pain over my whole body and I could not take care of myself in my daily life.
After I started practicing Falun Gong, I gradually recovered from many of my illnesses. I could sleep well and do some household chores. My family members did not need to worry about me any more, and I saved a huge amount of money on medical expenses for our family. My family lived a happy life.
After the persecution began in 1999, the police often called and harassed us and would not allow me to practice Falun Gong. To help people who had been deceived by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) learn the truth about Falun Gong, we began to distribute truth-clarification materials. For doing this, we suffered frequent persecution.
One night in July 2002, I, my younger sister and younger brother, also practitioners, traveled some distance to Xinfa Township to distribute truth-clarification materials. We were reported by a villager whose last name is Liu. He kicked me, beat me and caused my nose to bleed. A big lump appeared on my head, and my body was black and blue. He also took 386 yuan away from my younger sister and me. He kept 100 yuan and gave the rest of the money to Yu Minggang, a police officer from the Tongan Police Station.
Yu Minggang and three other police officers handcuffed our hands behind our backs and then bound them with rope. They stuffed our mouths with tissues and gloves. They forced us to kneel down inside a Jeep and then drove us to the Tongan Police Station. Around 2 p.m. the next day, Yang Shaoliang and Li Youngkun from the National Security Team transferred us to the county detention center from the Tongan Police Station. My younger sister was detained at the detention center.
At the detention center, I was interrogated three times (twice by Wu Yan and Li Youngkun, once by Lu Jianrong and Li Youngkun.) They asked me where I had gotten the materials. I did not tell them. They threatened my family members and ordered them to force me to tell. I still did not tell them. They detained me for 24 days, then extorted 3,000 yuan from my family and released me. Before they let me go, they read me a piece of paper: "You are not allowed to go back to your parents' home. You are not allowed to distribute materials. You are not allowed to get in touch with other Falun Dafa practitioners."
From 2003 to 2004, my family often suffered harassment from the Chengnan Police Station. Deng from Chengnan Police Station brought several police officers with him, as well as Ma Jianlin and Wen Xiaohong from the National Security Team. They came to harass us and make it impossible for us to live a peaceful life.
On November 28, 2005, a fellow practitioner and I went to Nange Town to distribute truth-clarification materials. We were arrested by Wang Dingjun, the militia commander, Peng Xinglong, the chief of the village, Sun Dehua, the Party Secretary of the village and a militia. Wang Dingjun called Hongqi Police Station. Two police officers came and took us to the Hongqi Police Station. Yang Shaoliang and Jiang Fengliang from the National Security Team went to the police station and violently dragged us to the detention center and detained us there for 15 days.
On December 22, a fellow practitioner and I went to Dajuan village, Nange Town to post truth-clarification posters. Once again, Peng Xinglong reported us. We were arrested by the National Security Team and detained for 15 days.
On March 9, 2007, a fellow practitioner and I went to Aimin Village of Guoyuan Town to clarify the truth. We were reported by a villager. Yang Shaoliang, Jiang Fengliang, Pu Maohua, and Liu Jianping from the National Security Team came and tried to arrest me. I would not go with them. Yang Shaoliang dragged me on the ground for several meters. Later they detained me in the detention center. On March 12, Liu Jianping interrogated me. They handcuffed both of my hands. When they could not get answers for their questions, he took a book and slapped my face hard with it twice. At the detention center, since I did not agree to give my fingerprints, Qin Shijun, the director of the detention center, Deng Huiming, and Lu Hongyou ordered criminals to put shackles on my feet. On March 28, they wanted to photograph me. Because I was wearing shackles, I could not walk at a fast pace. Police officer Zhou Chaoyong slapped my face. They took off the shackles until April 5, the day I was to be transferred to the detention center. On May 15, because I was quite sick, Qi Xiingyou, the director of the detention center and two drug addicts took me to a hospital for a checkup. The doctor diagnosed me with high blood pressure and heart trouble. They had to send me back to my family so that they could monitor me.
From 2008 to 2009, once again my family was harassed by the police. During the Olympic Games and the Huili Pomegranate Festival, they ordered my husband to monitor me and would not allow me to step out of the house. On the morning of April 25, 2009, Yang Shaoliang led several police and ransacked my home. They took away a copy of the book Zhuan Falun, MP3s, and a copy of Minghui Weekly.

Name: Li Yuhua (礼玉华)
Gender: Female
Age: Unknown
Address: Heilongjiang Yilan
Occupation: Self-employed
Date of Most Recent Arrest: April 25, 2002
Most Recent Place of Detention: Wanjia Forced Labor Camp (哈尔滨市万家劳教所)
City: Harbin
Province: Heilongjiang
Persecution Suffered: Detention, extortion, interrogation, force-feedings, brainwashing, beatings, solitary confinement, torture, hanging up, electric shock, physical constraint, sleep deprivation and forced labor.
(Clearwisdom.net) Li Yuhua has been detained four times since 1999. She was detained in the No.2 Detention Center of Yilan Town for 267 days. She was also sentenced to a four-year term at the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp in Heilongjiang Province. Between 1999 and 2003, she was detained at a detention center or forced labor camp.
Ms. Li Yuhua recounts the persecution she experienced during those years below:
First Detention
I went to Beijing to clear up misconceptions about Falun Gong on January 15, 2000. I was illegally arrested by Yilan Town police officers in Beijing and agents from the Chinese Communist Party Appeals Office. Three days later, I was taken to the Yilan Town Detention Center by Yilan officer Long Yunfei.
Sub-team leader Lin Zhong forced me to jog outside despite freezing weather. Lin Zhong also poured cold water over practitioners.
The food, such as corn buns and cabbage soup, was dirty and contained grass, soil, rat feces, flies and other contaminants.
I was tortured in the No. 2 Detention Center for 72 days and the guards extorted 720 yuan from me for food and fined me 500 yuan. I own a company for business clothing. While in the detention center, around New Year's Eve, one of the busiest times of the year, I lost 9,000 yuan.
Second Detention
On the afternoon of June 1, 2000, Cui You, head of the Yilan Town Chumu Police Station, ordered police officer Lin to arrest me and bring me to the station. Lin and other officers took me to the Yilan Town Police Station on June 26 and then transferred me to the Yilan Town No. 2 Detention Center.
Sub-leader Lin Zhong ordered Shang Dezhong and other prisoners to force-feed me. I was also taken to a brainwashing session and had to watch television programs that slandered Falun Dafa.
Lin Zhong, Guo Ying, Su Di and another three prisoners beat us and confiscated the Falun Dafa book Zhuan Falun.
They made us pay 540 yuan for food, and an additional 3,000 yuan, and I was detained for 60 days. I was tortured by Yilan police for half a year. In addition, my business went bankrupt.
Third Detention
On November 25, 2000, I shouted, "Falun Dafa is good! Falun Dafa is righteous!" on Tiananmen Square. Several police and plainclothes officers pushed me to the ground. I repeated, "Falun Dafa is good! Falun Dafa is righteous!" three times. I was taken to the Tiananmen police station. Yilan Beijing police officer Han Yunjie, who has since died, recognized me. I was taken to the Yilan No. 2 Detention Center by a Chumu police officer.
Lin Zhong ordered five to six male prisoners to force-feed me and put me on a small stool, a torture instrument. My legs hurt and I could barely breathe. Then, five to six prisoners pulled me by my hair. Two prisoners held my hands and others pinched my nose to stop my breathing through the nose. Another pinched my face. One used a chopstick to probe my teeth and another brushed my throat with a tooth brush. Then, they poured salt water into my mouth and I was almost asphyxiated.
I fainted and one of the prisoners carried me back to my cell. I threw up and my hair, face, neck and clothes were covered by the regurgitated concentrated salt water.
The third detention lasted 30 days. I was sentenced to forced labor for one year starting on December 28, 2000.
First Forced Labor Camp Imprisonment
At around 5 a.m. on December 28, 2000, I was taken to the No. 7 Division in the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, by Wang, head of the No. 2 Detention Center.
Zhang Bo, the team leader of the No. 7 Division, put me into solitary confinement for 2 weeks because I refused to renounce Falun Dafa.
Another practitioner recited Falun Dafa teachings in the canteen. Guards from the No. 9 Division put her in solitary confinement. All firm practitioners went on a hunger strike and demanded that the practitioner be released. Male guards came into the canteen and beat and screamed at us. I was put into solitary confinement.
We had to attend brainwashing sessions and watch CCTV's "Focal Point" programs, which maligned Falun Dafa and Teacher.
Fourth Detention
At 9 p.m. on April 25, 2002, Li, the head of the Chumu police, ordered about five policemen to break into my home and ransack it. They confiscated Teacher's photo and Falun Dafa materials. Li called Lu Junshan, head of the Yilan police, for direction and was told, "Take her to the detention center."
I was taken to the Yilan No. 2 Detention Center. In June 2002, Wang Yutao transferred me to the Harbin Wanjia Forced Labor Camp. I did not pass the health test, so I was taken back to the Yilan No. 2 Detention Center, where I was held until August 8, a total of 75 days.
Second Forced Labor Camp Imprisonment
On August 8, 2002, Zheng Jun, the head of the No. 2 Detention Center, took me to Harbin Wanjia Forced Labor Camp, Heilongjiang Province. Yao Fuchang, sub-head at the camp, kicked my back. I was forced to squat for eleven days from morning to midnight.
On the afternoon of August 19, team leader Zhao Yuqing ordered prisoner Bai Xuelian to torture me with the "big hang up." My blood pressure was already 190. Yao Fuchang then shocked
my head, eyes, ears, lips and throat with an electric baton, increasing the electric power frequently.
Then, I was tortured on the iron chair. Yao Fuchang shocked me with an electric baton until I was at death's door. He asked Wang, the camp doctor, to give me medicine. Prisoner Bai Xuelian and another prisoner claimed that I was just pretending, so they beat me again. I suffered sleep deprivation for quite some time.
On October 16, 2002, I was forced to squat for three days and nights for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. In the afternoon, Zhao Yuqing took me to an office and kicked me on the way in. I again was tortured on the iron chair and Yao Fuchang shocked me with an electric baton.
At the end of 2003, I was taken to the No. 12 Ward and had to perform forced labor. I was not allowed to sleep until I met my quota.
Sometimes during January 2004, practitioners, including myself, were forced to bind books. The machine was very old. No one wanted to start the machine, as it did not look safe. The smell in the room made it hard for people to breathe and whoever was in there for a long time came down with a headache. Li Baibing, a supervisor, was worried about being poisoned. Around 6 p.m. on February 28, Harbin practitioner Zhao Fengyun died while working in that room. The next day, we shouted: "Falun Dafa is Good! No labor work. Mourn for Zhao Fengyun!" Practitioners who joined this activity were tortured for seven or eight days.
My Family's Suffering
My family suffered great financial losses due to my 260 days in detention. I was unable to work during one of the busiest seasons of the year. My store was forced to close down, eliminating my source of income. My husband had a heart attack and my daughter was upset because she could not afford her school tuition.
Guards of the No. 2 Yilan Detention Center extorted 4,670 yuan from us. My business lost 20,000 yuan. The four years in Wanjia Forced Labor Camp resulted in a loss of 80,000 yuan.
The persecution brought great suffering to my family.

Ph.D. Student Develops Mental Disorder after Serving Two Terms in Forced Labor Camp
Name: Huang Hongqi (黄红启)
Gender: Male
Age: 38
Address: Huangpi District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province
Occupation: Ph.D Student in the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Dalian Institute of Technology
Date of Most Recent Arrest: January 30, 2006
Most Recent Place of Detention: Chini Town Second Forced Labor Camp in Huandi District
Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province (广州市花都赤泥镇第二劳教所)
City: Guangzhou
Province: Guangdong
Persecution Suffered: Electric shock, sleep deprivation, forced labor, brainwashing, forced injections/drug administration, beatings, solitary confinement, torture, physical restraint, interrogation
Key Persecutors: Nei Jingyu (那景寓), Fan Hongtao (范红涛), Han Guiwu (韩贵武)
(Clearwisdom.net) (By a correspondent in Hubei Province) Mr. Huang Hongqi, a quiet student in a Ph.D. program, was twice sent to a forced labor camp, where he suffered five years of brutal mistreatment that caused him to have a mental breakdown.
Mr. Huang was working on his Ph.D. dissertation at the Dalian Institute of Technology when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. As a Dafa practitioner, he joined the effort to clarify the truth to people about Falun Gong, but he was arrested in September, 1999. Police from Dalian City, Liaoning Province arrested him, and in December, 1999 sentenced him to two and a half years of forced labor. He was held in the Dalian Correction Center. The Dalian Institute of Technology stripped him of his Ph.D. candidacy. He refused to renounce his belief in Falun Dafa and was beaten, shocked, and subjected to the tiger bench torture. He suffered additional consequences because of the torture he endured in the camp--he lost hearing when his eardrum was ruptured and his nose was damaged during brutal force-feeding.
In July 2003, officers from the National Security Office in Wuhan City, Hubei Province arrested Mr. Huang. He was often moved from place to place with his eyes covered. He was threatened and then promised 10,000 yuan to become a spy for the government. He rejected it. He suffered a mental breakdown after six months of mistreatment. Mr. Huang was disoriented, extremely nervous and fearful of policemen and police cars. He was constantly worried about being followed or monitored. He would close all the windows and doors in the house and was afraid to leave home.
On January 1, 2006, Mr. Huang took a train south to visit his girlfriend. The next day, at about 4 p.m., a policeman with the surname Huang, from the Guangzhou Railway Public Security Office, arrested him at the train station and detained him in the office on 30 Guangyuanxi Street. On February 14, 2006, his parents went to the public security office to see him. Nei Jingyu and Fan Hongtao told his parents that Mr. Huang was detained because he was found carrying a Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party book and his computer contained Falun Dafa material.
A few months later, Mr. Huang's family was informed that he was sentenced to two years of forced labor and was held in the Chini Town Second Forced Labor Camp in Huandi District Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. Once again, Mr. Huang was the subject of brutal persecution: guards slammed his head against the wall, and kicked his lower back while he was forced to kneel. The harsh treatment devastated him and further aggravated his mental disorder. He was incoherent, could not recognize his parents, and drank and smoked. To avoid being held responsible for his condition, the camp released him two months earlier than the release date.
In November 2007, he was released. After his release, he was extremely nervous and was afraid to live at home. He would turn ash white whenever his past experiences were brought up.
However, in June 2008, Han Guiwu, the deputy director of the 610 Office in Huangpi District, Hubei Province, ordered Mr. Huang's family to take him to a brainwashing center. They threatened to come and get him if he was not taken there. Mr. Huang was frightened and trembling. He wanted to hide but there was no place to do so. In the end, the 610 Office gave up trying to brainwash him.
In the past two years, Mr. Huang's mental illness has recurred on and off. Recently, he seemed to get worse - constantly worrying that the National Security agents were watching him. He broke and destroyed windows, doors, furniture and a computer in his own home. He was beaten and badly hurt a few times when he was out. On December 9, 2009, fearing that they could not control him, his family admitted him to the Lutai Mental Hospital in Huangpi District, Hubei Province for treatment.
The persecution thus destroyed a once outstanding and promising young intellectual.
